Para
Formed when Balshazzar repented. A society that grew out of Old Babylon's "embrace and extend" policy. In a federation with Ortho. A chapter of The Exile is set here. Para is home to a group of exiles from Ortho known as The Wild Geese. These are people whose talents proved unsuited to Ortho's warlike culture and who prosper in the businesslike atmosphere of Para. They also include some banished for acts of cowardice or for political reasons.

- Capital: Babylon for local government, Ortho's Tara for Federation business
- Currency: Terebinth
- Language: Persian and Gaelic
- Government: A board of directors consisting of the CEOs of the largest corporations. In a federation with Ortho.
